Making .pdfs

Via lo-fi librarian:
The CC PDF Converter (a creative commons licensed pdf converter) claims to make pdf documents from “almost any application”. The demo posted on the web site would benefit from a more detailed description, but the conversion itself seems pretty straightforward.
Nifty. I used to have a little Mac extension (application? widget? thingamajig?) for OS 7 or 8 which was a PDF maker but masqueraded, to the computer, as a printer. So from any application that let you print, you could simply choose the PDF outputter instead of your regular printer. Now “Save as PDF” seems to be integrated into the print dialogue box of OS X. Of course both of the above create plain PDF documents; you can’t add fancy formatting like text input forms and stuff. I can’t tell at a glance if that’s also the case with the converter you linked to, but I would suppose so.
