The Notre Dame libraries have an innovative program to introduce first-year students to the various campus libraries: Caching in @ the Libraries.
“All First Year students are eligible to compete for iPod Shuffles, ND t-shirts, and other prizes. Have fun while getting to know your way around the campus, find out about library services, and meet some new people.”
“Several “caches” (most of them are small magnetic key holders) are hidden throughout the libraries on campus.” [...] “registered players will receive an email with detailed instructions and clues to the locations of the caches. Players will have a week to find all of the caches. Once you have the clues, nearly everything you need to know to find the caches is available on the library home page”
Neat idea! Should also help shake that lingering image of librarians as old sushing ladies…
